Multiple-User License: FGI 2014 Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals and Outpatient Facilities

The 2014 edition separated the requirements for hospitals and outpatient facilities from those for residential care facilities for the first time. The 2014 Hospital/Outpatient Guidelines includes improved application guidance, the addition of a safety risk assessment (SRA), and considerations for bariatric-specific design. New chapters were added for children’s hospitals and critical access hospitals. Other revised and new content addresses freestanding emergency care facilities, hybrid operating rooms, imaging services, and observation units, among other topics.

 

As with the previous edition, ANSI/ASHRAE/ASHE Standard 170: Ventilation of Health Care Facilities was incorporated into the Guidelines to provide ventilation requirements for health care facilities. The 2014 edition of the Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospital and Outpatient Facilities includes the 2013 edition of ASHRAE 170, with all addenda approved through November 2013.
